Lake Blackshear is also a good place for anglers. Here they can find a variety of species of bass, sunfish, crappie, perch, and catfish. Anglers can fish from shore, on boats, or off of the various piers that are around the lake.
An interesting feature of Lake Blackshear is the old cypress stumps left behind from the construction of the nearby dam. These are great spots for fishing but pose a potential threat to boaters.
At Lake Blackshear is Georgia Veterans State Park. It is in Cordele, Georgia, which is in the Crisp County portion of Lake Blackshear. Here, guests can visit the Military Museum, take the SAM Shortline Excursion Train tours, and go to the archery/rifle range, lake resort, beach, or campsites around the park.
There are plenty of places to eat around Lake Blackshear. Popular places to eat include Cypress Grill, Cordelia’s Restaurant, and Buoy’s on Blackshear.
If you want a break from the lake, Atlanta is close enough for a trip. There you go to the World of Coca-Cola Museum, Botanical Gardens, and Georgia Aquarium. Local eateries include Atlanta Breakfast Club, Poor Calvin’s, and Phew’s Pies.
